Tips for Cutting Health Care Costs

By Anonymous

June 11, 2004 -- "Increasing health care costs are a major burden for families across the U.S.," said Wesley Fleet, the local representative of the Alliance for Affordable Services. "Consumers need to do everything they can to keep health care spending under control."

The Alliance, a group purchasing association that's committed to helping members live better and save more, offers these tips for cutting health care costs:

* Get regular preventative checkups to catch problems before they become serious.
* Eliminate bad habits, such as smoking, that you know will cause problems down the road.
* Ask your doctor if expensive medical tests are truly necessary.
* Use emergency and urgent care services only for true emergency situations.

The purpose of the Alliance for Affordable Services is to put money back in its members' pockets by using the power of the group to negotiate signigicant savings on a variety of benefits. In addition, the Alliance is attacking soaring health care costs through wellness programs, information on wise medical practices, legislative advocacy and incentives for members to control their own medical costs.

For more information on the Alliance, please contact Wesley Fleet at (540)-836-0506. Or, visit the Alliance Website at www.affordableservices.org.
